Rail and Road. Galle is easy to reach and is connected to Colombo and Matara

climate, Galle can rarely be seen in a dry form. A temperature of 25 degrees is
maintained throughout the year. The most important tourist destinations in
Galle include the majestic forts and
stone works. Galle also enjoys
fourth position when it comes to largest cities of Srilanka. With a population
of nearly a lakh, Galle shares a culture which mixes modernity in tradition.
By Air:
The Bandaranaike International terminal is
the nearest airport to Galle. Situated about 130 Kms from Galle, the airport is
located in Katunayake. The domestic airports are at a distance of 200 to 600
Kms from Galle and the nearest one is Ratmalana Airport located 92 Kms from
Galle.
By Sea:
Galle is an International sea port in
Srilanka. This is one of the major hubs to connect important ports across the
world. This must be a different and memorable experience for all travelers
around the world……
By Rail:
Colombo is the nearest railway station to
Galle. Express passenger trains are there between major stations and
reachability is not much of a problem. These trains travel between Maradana
station located in Colombo and Hikkaduwa. The Railway station is artistically
decorated to provide an aesthetic look.
By Road:
Colombo, Matara and Unawatuna are the nearest locations to Galle reachable by bus. When
you reach Galle, you will be able to find a lot of local buses and cabs which
transport you to and from forts and other sights. The bus station is located
near the center of Galle, just next to the Cricket stadium. Three wheeled
rickshaws ply between Colombo and other major cities of Srilanka. There is not
much of a need to use a rickshaw to cover the epic forts and other areas of
Galle but it reduces the distance covered by legs as the sunny days can really
sweat you out.
The
most amazing moment in Galle is the vibrancy of the commercial districts that
you find on reaching Galle and the next moment you see the traditional Dutch
colonial lifestyle. The moment you pass through one of the gates belonging to
the fort may change your thoughts about Galle. The whole place is busy with
administration and offices pushing tourism to the back seat. But nevertheless,
